DREAM DESTINATIONS: 48 HOURS IN PARIS
So this week in the office I've been busy working on blog content for the Unicorn Journal. My focus has been on 'Dream Destinations' and what Team Unicorn recommend for making the most of a quick weekend in Paris.
For those not interested in a late night, you are only 15 minutes walk from the Sacré-Cœur Basilica. Take a wander down here to see the cathedral in all its glory, crowd free.
Hotel: Finding somewhere to stay in the right location at the right price can often be the biggest challenge when it comes to booking a quick getaway and this is often the case anywhere you go in the world. However I'm currently loving the Telegraph's best hotels list, which can be found here. So whatever your budget or preferred location they've got your back.
Day 2
Morning: Take the Metro to Cité and head straight to the Notre Dame. The cathedral is free to explore but adult access up the towers costs €8.50. Be sure to get there early before it gets too busy.
Brunch: Brunch at Cafe St. Regis is a must on any trip to Paris. You'll find this chic hangout just over the Saint-Louis Bridge connecting the Seine's two islands. For those with a sweet tooth, order the pancakes. You won't regret it.
Afternoon: Those pancakes can be walked off in 20 minutes as you make your way over to Le Louvre. If you're under 24, bring your passport as you can access the museum for free as an EU citizen.
After an afternoon of art, it must be time for a sugar fix surely? Get yourself over to Ladurée just round the corner from Rue Saint-Honoré for a plate of macarons and tea or the full works afternoon tea if you feel like going all out!
You'll need the energy to keep you going for some late afternoon shopping on the Champs-Elysées.
End your shopping spree for a quick photo stop at the Arch de Triomphe before heading back to your hotel to drop those bags off and refresh for dinner.
Dinner: Now depending on your mood (and possibly how much shopping you've done this afternoon) I have two options for you.
If you feel like splurging make a 9pm reservation at 58 Tour Eiffel. For €95 you'll not only get views of the city from the 1st floor but a welcome glass of champagne, starter, main dessert, wine, water and coffee. What more could you want?
For a more casual cosy dinner and some of the best burgers around, dress down and check out Big Fernand. Veggie options available.
Evening: If you opted for a more casual, quick dinner fix and it's a clear night be sure to head over to the Eiffel Tower for incredible nighttime views. Make sure you're back on the ground on the hour to watch the tower light up and sparkle from below.
If you chose to check out the Eiffel Tower earlier in the day or are tight on time make sure you pre-book your tickets to go up. This is essential for avoiding the worst of the ticket queues.
Day 3
Morning: After a full day on Saturday it's only fair to have yourself a lazy Sunday morning.
Once you've had your morning caffeine fix head over to Boulevard Haussmann to the dreamy Galeries Lafayette department store. With a rooftop panorama you can see across the city by daylight and with 24 restaurants and cafes inside there are plenty of options to refuel for lunch.
Afternoon: For your last afternoon in Paris why not try your hand at a parfumerie workshop at none other than the Musée du Parfum or if the kitchen is more your vibe why not try one of La Cuisine's Parisian baking and patisserie classes? Choux, Eclairs, Tarts, Le Mille Feuille tickle your fancy? - You name it, they've got it down.
Depart: Again, with the Eurostar there's trains almost twice every hour departing Gare du Nord so whenever you can bring yourself to leave the city you can be back in London within a couple of hours planning your next escape...

With summer slowly but surely coming to an end, I wanted to share my post and some inspiration for escaping the office for a quick weekend getaway to explore more of the City of Love!
After afternoons of research, talk in the office and of course Instagram stalking my favourite Parisian hang outs I've found myself doing some serious daydreaming about booking another trip back as soon as possible...
So here you have it: THE DREAM DAYPLANNER. What to do with 48 hours in Paris...
Day 1
Pink Mamma Paris |
Evening: Take the Eurostar out of St.Pancras early evening. With two trains an hour you're not limited for choice. If you can make it out the office early and on the 5pm train, you can be in Paris before 8.30pm and ready to go straight for a late dinner.
Dinner: On top of my 'must-try' list is Pink Mamma Paris - 20bis Rue de Douai, 75009 Paris. Head here for incredible stonebaked pizza and heavenly desserts. The setting is simply an Instagram dream.
Party: Pink Mamma Paris is right in the heart of the Montmartre Quarter of Paris and only a stones throw away from the Moulin Rouge. If you've got the energy to dance the night away then La Machine du Moulin Rouge is where you need to be. We're talking 3 floors, champagne bar, dance floor and concert hall all under one roof.
